River North Business Association Names Heather Spires New Executive Director
River North Business Association is proud to announce Heather Spires as its new executive director, effective immediately. Spires brings extensive government relations and development experience to the role, including several years serving as Vice President of Retail and Business Recruitment for the City Center Partnership in
Columbia, South Carolina.
“Heather will bring strong leadership and a new level of visibility to our rapidly growing and evolving organization. She comes to us with a strong background in non-profit and business development. We are very pleased to have her join us as our new executive director,” says RNBA Board President Tara Fedorko.
Heather Spires joins River North Business Association after recent consulting work with Chicago Loop Alliance for its Arts in the Loop economic impact study. She previously served as Vice President of Retail and Business Recruitment for the City Center Partnership in Columbia, SC. In this role, Spires was responsible for promoting downtown Columbia throughout the region and attracting new retail, restaurant and business prospects to the historic Main Street district. She also has extensive experience in non-profit fundraising, having developed and implemented strategy for successful capital campaigns, major gifts solicitation, grant proposals, board development, and individual, foundation and corporate giving.
Spires’ prior experience in government relations includes leading statewide coalitions and grassroots advocacy campaigns, helping draft legislation, negotiating with opposition groups and legislators, and advocating the Coastal Conservation League’s legislative positions before the S.C. General Assembly. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
